After ICC finally scrapped the long debated ICC Champions trophy considering irrevalance of the event as it stands along side much influential ICC Men’s World Cup held every four years, T20 World cup took over the tournament scheduled for 2021.
With the growing craze of shorter formats of the game, T20 cricket has become the favourite recently and adding up the possibility of including maximum number of teams in the tournament, Men’s T20 World Cup was the Perfect replacement.
Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 is set to be held in India with 16 teams joining the event, Super 12 from 2020 tournaments will enter along with four other teams that will make through the Global Qualifiers.
All in all, replacing the 8 team and 50 over format with 16 teams in 20 over format is exciting and encouraging, however, Preservation of older cricket format still raises question in many cricket enthusiasts.
