Rit Gautam, emerging player of Nepal cricket reveals his source of inspiration towards cricket in a recent interview with AP1 HD.
Rit Gautam is the name to watch for, who gonna make it big in the future. A 18 year old Right-handed Batsmen,Rit is already leaving his footprints in Nepal Cricket with his remarkable batting ability.In an interview he reveals that the West Indian opening Batsmen,Chris Gayle also known as ‘Universe Boss’ dragged him in the field of cricket.
Tell us about your journey into cricket,How do you get started?
“It all started in 2014. I used to play football in streets at the beginning.But a inning of Chris Gayle in Indian Premier League(IPL) of 175 inspired me towards cricket.That changed me in everything.He is of fearless attitude, something is expected from him every time.I too want that same feeling.”
You have played six tournaments for Nepal-19 so far. How did you built up to international youth team?
“I firstly played from U-16 team for Nepal. I was selected in U-19 squad first in 2018. At first,I didn’t get a chance to play.I was on bench for many matches. Slowly and gradually I started performing well in practice match and got a spot in playing Xl.”
How did you get into Everest Premier League(EPL)?
“It was 2017,I just came back from the Thailand playing a U-16 tournament. There was a talent hunt going on in Nepal and I got picked by Lalitpur Patriots. I didn’t get the chance to play but sharing dressing room with big names like Gyanendra Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane was a great achievement for me.That tournament was the point when I realized what kind of level you have to built to play games.”
How you got chance in Pokhara Rhinos Team?
“I was not really sure about my pick because I rarely got chance in Premiere leagues of Nepal. So, for me it was quite a bit of surprise as i got a text from coach.It was a great feeling for me.”
You will be sharing the same pitch with your inspiration in EPL 2020, Is it gonna be like accomplishing your dream?
” I was thinking of playing against him but playing with him is the dream came true for me because of my mother, she is the big fan of him.My mother is the biggest Chris Gayle fan anyone from the world.”
Where do you see Nepal Cricket from here?
“We have just got the ODI status.I am very positive about where we can go. Personally,My dream is to play ODI World-Cup. We are playing the WCL-2 right now,I think we can move forward through this tournament.The journey is long but not impossible.”
Recently you got chance to lead U-19 team,who is your leadership Inspiration?”
” I have played a lot under Paras Khadka, there is lot of things in him which I learned and now I am confident to lead a team. He makes all the player comfortable. I used to be nervous initially but it started going away when I started talking to him about my game.”
Surely, Paras Khadka is a iconic name in Nepal Cricket and Rit Gautam won’t be back from becoming the next iconic name in the future.
Recently, He scored a Magnificent century against Singapore in ACC-19 Eastern Region Tournament leading his team to the victory of 217 runs. He scored Unbeaten 115 runs with the help of ten fours and a six.He is the only Nepali batsmen to hit century in both U-16 and U-19 tournament.He had played an unbeaten innings of 106 runs in U-16 Eastern Region Tournament in 2017 against Myanmar.
Along with Rit many other names are coming forward in Nepal cricket but he had something special which can be the key for future of Nepal Cricket.
