Ever since Cricket became a global sport, there have been some of the exciting matches played what can be called best cricket match. Those exciting matches gave us chills watching and even now whenever I see them, they get me excited. So, if you are a die heart cricket fan and miss watching cricket, here I have listed for you some of the exciting cricket matches played.

2019 World Cup Final

Nothing gets more exciting than the World Cup final and it gets even exciting when the game is tied and even super over gets tied.

Played on the iconic Lord’s ground between the host England and New Zealand. Batting first, posted 241 runs. What seemed to be an easy chase for the hosts was not quite. England was all out for 241 runs with only Ben Strokes standing between New Zealand victory.

With scores tied, the match went to a super over where England posted 15 runs. Chasing 16 runs in super over for victory, New Zealand only managed to get 15 runs and the host England won based on more boundary hit i.e. 26 to 17.

England vs Sri Lanka 1st Test Match 2014

Probably one of the exciting test matches, where the visiting team fought hard and saved the match. The match did not just go to the 5th day but the result was not decided until the last ball. The draw and England win equally probable.

Batting first England posted 575/9d in the first innings and then Sri Lanka was bowled for 453 runs. In their second innings, England declared scoring 267/8 gave Sri Lanka the target of 390 runs for victory.

The match went to the last over, where Sri Lanka had 2 wickets left to draw the match. Rangana Herath was given out caught behind in the first ball of the final over. The win seemed almost sure for the hosts and was almost had it when Pradeep was given lbw, only to be saved by a review.

South Africa Vs Australia, Fifth ODI, Johannesburg, 2006

Although I did not get to see this match live, this match was just epic. The mention of this match was given to me by one of my neighboring brothers.

In the year before T-20, posting anything above 300 was considered a very good score to win. However, that was not the case in that match where South Africa chased down 435 runs.

Batting first Australia managed a mammoth 434 runs in their 50 overs with Ricky Pointing scoring 164 runs. Seemed almost impossible, South Africa chased down the score with the ball to spare with Herschelle Gibbs scoring 175 runs from 111 balls.

England Vs India, Bangalore,2011

Another match to make the list is another tied match from England. England and host India were in the same pool in that match. Batting first India was all out for 338 runs in their 50 overs on the back of the great cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s 120 runs.

Chasing 339 runs for victory England only managed to get 338 runs with England captain Andrew Strauss scoring  158 runs. The match ended in a draw and both the teams shared points.

India vs Australia 3rd ODI Mohali

I will always remember this match for James Faulkner hitting the ball for sixes and winning the game out of nowhere for Australia. Batting first India scored a good score of 303 in their 50 overs. Chasing 304 for victory, Australia looked to struggle with 4-171 in 36.2 overs and 6-213 in 41.1 overs.

With only 8.5 overs and 91 runs needed for victory, Faulkner scored 64 runs from 29 balls. He scored 6 sixes and 2 fours in the match. Australia won the match with 4 wickets and 3 balls to spare.

So, these were some of the exciting matches. Comment down below if I missed some of the exciting matches and if you want a part two of the exciting matches of Cricket.
