Nepal beats Hongkong by six wickets and qualifies for 2019 ACC U-19 Asia Cup to be held in Srilanka.
Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel won the toss and elected to field first against Hongkong at Kinrara oval stadium, Malaysia in today’s final match at ACC U-19 Eastern Region.
For Nepal, Sagar Dhakal took his second, five-wicket haul of the tournament conceding just 18 runs in 10 overs.
Kushal Malla with most economical bowling gave only four runs in 8.1 overs with one wicket.
Kamal Singh Airee with three wickets and Tilak Raj Bhandari with a wicket helped Nepal U-19 to restrict the Hongkong side in just 95 runs.
On the other side, captain of Hongkong U-19, Adit Gorawara, scored 24 runs in 71 balls with the help of four boundaries. Kalhan Marc Challu scored 19 runs, and Ranaq Kapur scored 12 runs while other batsmen failed to touch double-digit number.
Chasing the target of 96 runs, Pawan Saraf and Rit Gautam provided a solid start for Nepal with 52 runs on the partnership, where Pawan Saraf managed to score 39 runs in 36 balls with 1 six and 5 fours whereas, Rit Gautam managed to score 13 runs in 14 balls.
Bowler of Hong Kong, Mohammad Hassan Khan broke the 52 runs opening partnership of Rit and Pawan by taking the wicket of Rit Gautam.
Khadak Bahadur Bohora and Rohit Paudel scored 8 and 12 runs respectively. Bhim Sharki was the game finisher who scored 8 runs in 11 balls.
Winning the tournament, Nepal U-19 qualifies for ACC U-19 Asia cup 2019 starting from 28th August in Srilanka. Nepal will join India, Pakistan, Srilanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kuwait and UAE for Asia cup.
