ICC T20 World Cup 2020 is scheduled to start from October 18 this year in Australia. But the outbreak of COVID-19 around the globe made the tournament in doubt as all the sporting events around the world is been cancelled.
Earlier, there were rumors of cancellation of the tournament as Australia has sealed the borders and can be extended to six months.
Recently ICC stated that the tournament is likely to go ahead as per schedule as if everything get back to the normal.They said that the local organizing committee is closely monitoring the situation for the final decision.
“In response to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Local Organizing Committee is monitoring the situation closely with relevant authorities and will continue to do so.The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from 18 October – 15 November 2020 in seven venues across Australia. We are planning for the event to go ahead as scheduled.” stated ICC as quoted by CricTracker.
