Gyanendra Malla Star With Bat As Nepal Down Malaysia

Nepal clinch the first victory beating Malaysia by 7 wickets at the Asian Regional Finals In Singapore on Wednesday.

Due to rain,match was limited to 9 over each. Gyanendra Malla was captain for Nepal as Paras was injured.

Gyanendra Malla paved the way to victory with fine inning of 51 runs in just 21 balls chasing the target of 84 runs in 9 overs given by Malaysia. Binod Bhandari and Pradeep Airee scored 13 and 12 runs respectively.

Earlier,Malaysia scored 83 runs in 9 overs with the loss of 7 wickets. Syed Aziz was highest run scorer for Malaysia as he played an inning of 30 runs in 15 balls Virandeep Singh scored 21 runs in 17 balls.

Sompal Kami and Basanta Regmi weighed in with three and two wickets respectively. Karan Kc and Sandeep Lamichane with 1 wicket each.

Gyanendra Malla was rewarded with man-of-the-match award after scoring 51 runs in 21 balls.He break the record of Binod Bhandari of fastest half-century in T20I for Nepal.

Earlier,Nepal lost the first match with Qatar by 4 wickets.With a win and a loss Nepal is on 3rd of the points table.Only the winner of the five-team tournament will advance to the T20 world cup global qualifier to be held in the UAE on oct 11-nov 3.
