While protesting against the illegal extraction of riverbed materials in Mithila Municipality of Dhanusha, 24 years old Dilip Kumar Mahato (Also Called Omprakash) has been killed by Tripper numbered Na 7 Kha 6413
While Dilip Kumar Mahato along with his friend Roshan Yadav on Friday went for a morning walk he tried to stop the illegal extraction of riverbed materials in the ‘Aurahi’ river. Later situation went little bit harash and turned into a quarrel. Inturn the tripper Driver killed Mahato by driving over him says Police officer Raj Kumar Yadav. Yadav also adds, Mahato’s friend Roshan Yadav and one of the crusher industrialist Bipin Mahato is in the custody for further research.
Mahato, was studying engineering in India, and had returned home 15 days ago. All the family members claim that Dilip has been beaten first and killed by the tripper in a planned way.
Local people suspect that Dilip Kumar may have been killed in a planned manner by Crusher Company as he was protesting illegal river excavation from the initial stage.
According to Ramjivan Mahato, father of the deceased, he had leased 5 Kathha of land to Bipin Mahato, a crusher industrialist. Ramjivan had reached Bipin just three days ago, asking for rent. In that same meeting, Bipin had threaten to kill Dilip Kumar Mahato if he doesn’t stop raising voices against illegal extraction of river says his father.
While a young and courageous to-be-engineer has died infact murdered infront of our eyes by some bloody industrialists why aren’t we speaking? Why are the voices not raised? Is it because of his gender, caste or that he is from terai? Are we all supposed to raise and gather voices only when somebody is raped? Are we going to raise our voices only when people from high profiles or from the higher caste gets dead?
Hope Dilip Kumar Mahato gets justice. Rest In Peace sir.
