BCCI had postponed the IPL to April 15 earlier and was supposed to host only after the pandemic improves. But BCCI will be under pressure for cancellation of IPL after the declaration of 21 days lockdown by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BCCI is likely to cancel this years’s IPL as one of the official of BCCI said,” If Olympics can be postponed by a year, IPL is a much smaller entity in that regard. It is becoming increasingly difficult to organise. At this point the government is not even thinking about allowing foreign visas.”

Franchises are also aware of cancellation of IPL. Owner of Kings Xl Punjab, Ness Wadia, said,”I can’t even think about  the IPL at this point. It is irrelevant along with everything else. The only thing which is relevant is in what we are living in and it is a world war 3 situation where we are fighting to help so many people.”

He added,”The situation has not improved so there is no point in even talking about IPL. If IPL doesn’t happen so be it.”
